#FASHIONFRIDAY – AUTUMN FEELS

black and leather are very versatile for any seasons. It goes well with any denim and colours. It is a MUST ITEM in everyone’s wardrobe, including the kids’.

Hello Friday! It’s been a while I am putting my passion for fashion aside. Until last week, when I was cleaning up my IPhone storage, I found some great lookbook photos of me with the family. Somehow, it sparked the fire back to start The Tjungsquad fashion section. So, let’s level up the fun by starting a new official hashtag of my fashion section #fashionfriday – I will try my best to update this section once a week, yes new fashion inspiration will up live on Friday.

Today, let’s talk about autumn. Yeah I see it’s June already which means winter is no longer near, instead, IT IS HERE! But, how can you deny the beauty of autumn?! I can not. It is surely my favourite season. And still in the autumn feels and my favourite colour mode; Yellow and orange.

These photos were taken 2 weeks ago during our family day out. And our first time out & about photoshoot with Asher. I didn’t planned in the first place to take some family fashion shots, but just realised we were wearing colour – coordinated outfit that day except Asher when I run through the photos. So, here are some inspiration for you and your family; black and leather are very versatile for any seasons. It goes well with any denim and colours. It is a MUST ITEM in everyone’s wardrobe, including the kids’. Photos were taken at Centennial Parklands.

Hope you enjoy this section as much as I do. X

ANZAC DAY OUT

A “Sunday” on weekdays? I’LL TAKE IT. Here I dumped some of the photos taken during our family day out on Anzac Day. Well, since most of the brunch cafes and shopping mall were closed for operations, we decided to take J’s out to amusement park. And we chose Luna Park, the most iconic amusement park in Sydney, New South Wales. I will be honest, most of the rides were pretty old-school but mannnn…location wise, Luna Park is just one of the most beautiful spot I would go back for 52 times in a year with same level of excitement. Located on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, there are simply many things you can explore around the area. I would say, I am quite lucky to live here today. I AM BLESSED.

Well, it is an opened air amusement park, so, raining is its biggest enemy. Unfortunately, that was exactly what happened during our visit. The first half day was wonderful then few hours later after midday, the rain hit. We, as a parent, were sad for a probability that our kid wouldn’t be able to enjoy his free time at the park. But, it turned out the other way around, J was really calm and collective at those present moment, he embraced the rain and told us word by word “Jared helps mommy to hold the umbrella”, and my heart melted. That was exactly my mood booster for the day. AGAIN. I was reminded, there’s always one beauty out of your messy wet soaking day. Well, on my case, it’s more than one though. J enjoyed his time with some Smurfs fellas and we (daddy & mommy) enjoyed some (non) extreme rides too. We finished the day off by taking some killer shots on the harbour. And here I am dumping some of previous photos taken by my talented husband. Ps: he is a legend. He carried 2 bags (nappy & camera bag), held the umbrella, while taking pictures of two of us under the rain. I can’t imagine life without him. He never complains and he make things happen. He even said to me that “part of my vow was to take countless photos of you”.

I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH MORE THAN HE COULD EVER IMAGINE.

EASY RECIPE // WINTER KIDS MEAL

Dinner time in the house is my favourite time. We all called it “family dinner” simply because this is the only moment where ALL of the family members are able to gather on a table to enjoy the meal after a busy day of individual routines. Perfect time to engage and interact to one another. Sounds perfect aye! (to me at least)

Until I realised, that this toddler is sitting on the same table at the same time with us. Well, that is another story, isn’t it? Often times dinner would be the most unpleasant time of the day. mayday, mayday, mayday….My body was drained out after full day of babysitting/working, cooking dinner and now grumpy toddler is refusing to open his mouth because the plate looks “greeny”. I mean….Seriously?! It is because I have no blue/red clean plate at the time little fella, so just bare with me and pick that god damn beef sausage, and put it in your mouth. Gah.

Then I got a revelation somehow one day, that I gotta prepare meal which comforts their “eyes” and their “tummy”

  1. Comforts their eyes – basically, what they see is what they get. If the presentation itself does not satisfy their sight, the wrong information will directly send to the brain commanding them to lock their mouth. Once they’re happy with what they see, they would surely open their mouth and give it a go. Be mindful to make their favourite element stands out on the plate. In my case, noodles, soup, chicken, and meatballs are the thing that J loves the most. So, I put extra effort on that piece and make them as visual as it can be. Hiding veggies is always wise to do, add them to your homemade meatballs mixture. It’s a winner for the whole family. Yeahhh!!
  2. Comforts their tummy Next step is making sure that they consume enough nutritions intake to their tummy for the day. Eating together increase healthy eating habits and provides a model for children to carry with them into adulthood. Studies show family dinners increase the intake of fruits and vegetables; families who eat dinner together tend to eat fewer fried foods and drink less soda; and family meal frequency is linked to the intake of protein, calcium, and some vitamins. I am struggling to get my protein son to consume veggies, but after I implement this new family dinner rule for a while, I am glad to report you that he slowly improving his tolerance for veggies. And for this colder season, I am using a lot of in-season produce too, like carrots, orange, citrus, lemon, garlic, ginger (they are powerful to boost your immune system).
  3. Spend less time on the kitchen –  please do not spend too much energy and time on the kitchen (unless for special occasion). 30-45 minutes max would be the ideal time from preparation to presentation. Spend more time to sit down and have a nice conversation with one another. Here are some killer recipes you can do under 30minutes. They are super delicious healthy on low budget.

Ginger Beef Soup With Rice Noodles and Mixed Veggies

Meatballs

  3. Place homemade chicken stock and veggies in a large saucepan and bring into boil over high heat.
  4. Gently pop in the meatballs. Bring back to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer and cook for further 8 minutes.
  5. Add rice noodles to the soup and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat.
  7. Season with salt & pepper.

4 WAYS TO FIGHT OFF THE WINTER COLDS

Hey guys! Hope you are doing well these days. Hope the house is coping well with the weather transition lately.

Well…with the winter months fast-approaching, kids will soon be picking up those dreaded winter coughs and colds. To help stay on top of your kids’ splutters and tackle any nasties this winter, it is important to stock up the medicine cabinet with the winter essentials! Well, the philosophy says… better prepared than sorry. For this matter, I trust Little Range Winter Package which includes the following:

  • Little Coughs
  • Little Eyes
  • FESS Little Nose

Below I shared some tips to fight off this cold months:

  1. Stock up the right food produces for the season – build a strong immune system is very important for the season. Stock up some great powerful and colourful range of fruits and vegs to your pantry, such as, citrus, kiwi, spinach, broccoli, carrots, garlic and ginger. They are good for immune system. Try also including one daily serving of probioitic-rich foods/snacks to their meal plan, such as yoghurt (plain, unsweetend is best), plain greek yoghurt, and miso soup. Add them to their fruit salad bowl or let them have a dip.
  2. Practice good hygiene – children often forget basic hygiene practices like washing their hands and covering their mouth when they cough. Make sure you remind them wash their hands before meals or sharing food. It’s also common for children to rub their noses and eyes. Be sure to have tissues at the ready for their noses and eye wipes handy such as Little Eyes to help clear out the residue from around the eyes. And children are notorious for copying their parents behaviour, be mindful about your hygiene practices to make sure you’re being the best.
  3. Clear out the noses and coughs – The nose is the perfect breeding ground for bugs that can cause colds and flus. Clear out kids’ noses with a saline non-medicated nasal spray such as FESS Little Noses. This will not only help children breathe better, but will also flush away any nasties and clear the nasal passageways. And for those with a cough that can keep everyone up at night use a natural cough syrup such as Little Coughs, which contains ivy leaf extract to offer soothing relief from coughs and chesty congestion. Sleep is one of the best immune boosters of all!
  4. Stay dehydrated – it can be hard to remember to stay hydrated during the cooler months, so soups come in handy in getting varied nutrition and plenty of liquid into our little ones. It is necessary to get creative on preparing the meal for little ones, because they are too creative in picking on the green and non-green stuffs on the plate. It is our responsibility to make sure we prepare a comfort meal for their eyes and their tummy. Meatballs are always the best option to hide some veggies, miso soup paste is a winner for everyone’s tongue, and buckwheat soba makes a healthier choice than pasta. You might our family’s favourite “Miso Soup with Meatballs and Soba Noodles”. Recipe attached on the next blog post under “creates”. Check them out.

Lastly, here’s my direct review on the Little Range Winter Products itself. My son got some cold & flu symptoms since last Easter long weekend. So, I gave him a try of Little Range products. He has been using these products for the past few days, and both of us were very happy with the outcome. Little Fess Noses helps him clear up the blocked nose, Little Coughs improves his sleep during the night, and mommy loves how light and handy the Little Eyes handy package is, it can fit to any type/shape of mommy’s bags. Side note: J loves the flavour and the syrup texture of Little Coughs too. Another happy day. happy kid. happy mommy.

#THANKYOUPARTNER – ZAIBOB : KIDS WINTER MUST HAVE ACCESSORIES

Another series continued today, I would like to thank you my next partner for my current RELAUNCH PROJECT (www.mamaonrepeat.com); Zaibob THANK YOU!

Zaibob was launched in December 2015 when owner/designer Kalee Abdollahi started the label inspired by her son Zai. Zaibob is all about creating fashion forward clothing and accessories for your little ones. We like to create clothes that allow kids to be kids without having to sacrifice style.

As you’ve read above, Zaibob is focusing on kids fashion. And who can skip a mini fashion section. hey?? Oh lawd….you know you’re a mom, the moment you started to load your shopping basket with kids stuffs and clothes, aren’t you? But, sometimes shopping on shelf is impossible for me. The demands of my toddlers are way beyond my ability to shop. So, again I ended up in the kinder egg surprise stalls. Thus, I do a lot of online shopping at home, which gives me more time to pick and drop on my cart. And, YES! I love shop small, they are amazingly talented and quality driven.

So, I have been connecting with Zaibob since 2016, it was Jared’s first brand repping. And the moment we received their goods. We fell in love straight away. Kalee has a divine sewing skill. I love how neat the finish product was. I remembered that winter was approaching the time we rep for Zaibob, and I was in need for some winter accessories for boys, because they don’t have much in store other wool beanie. Jared is suffering from eczema, so he can only wear cotton fabric. Yeahhh..wool beanie is NOT an option for us. Thank God, Zaibob delivered me such a right product for us; slouchy beanie. And it’s stylish too. Jared wears them every single day during winter/autumn until now. It is a great way to hide a “pillow hair” for the kids too. 😉

And I am super thrilled to hear the news that Zaibob just relaunched their new range of slouchy beanies with a thicker fabric + more range of colours selection. So ready for a chilly spring and freezing under here. Are you?! Check out their website for more range of kids fashion http://www.zaibob.com
